Spare Change

Harder than change is convincing others that you have.

I've long thought that the devil's greatest tool against our improvement is the act of labeling us with out weaknesses.

When you work your hardest to abolish a bad habit, it makes things a hundredfold more difficult when others continue to affix the bad habit to you, insisting to themselves that you haven't changed. In that way, they feed the old bad habit, and bring it back to life in you.

Allow others to change. Allow your perception of them to change with their behavior. You know them better than you might think: you can tell when the change is earnest or when it's just a phase or a New Year's resolution. When they are sincere, do them a favor and sincerely forgive their habit. Make room in your paradigm for an improved image of those who strive to improve.
